About UHack 2024

Welcome to UHack 2024, a 24-hour hackathon organized by Kappa Theta Pi (KTP) at the University of Miami, in collaboration with other UM technology organizations like GDSC, SHPE, SASE, INIT, and Major League Hacking (MLH).

Event Details

  2. Time: 9:00 AM Saturday - 9:00 AM Sunday
  3. Location: Shalala Grand Ballrooms or Lakeside Village, University of Miami

Costs

We are committed to keeping UHack accessible. While a $10-$20 fee may be considered, our goal is to keep the event free for all participants.

Activities

Workshops

Throughout the hackathon, participants can attend workshops to develop their projects:

Game Dev Workshops:
  1. Unity (Led by KTP advisor and CIM Professor Lorena Lopez)
  2. PyGame (Simple Python-based game engine)
  3. Scratch (Beginner-friendly, visual game engine)
  4. LibGDX (Simple Java-based game engine)
App Design Workshops:
  1. Figma workshop/introduction (UI/UX) led by KTP and UM alumni Sofia Perez-Baux
  2. Adobe (UI/UX)
  3. Sketch (UI/UX)
  4. HTML/CSS/Javascript
  5. React
  6. API Integration

Panels & Competitions

  1. Sponsor Panels: Learn about industry insights and get career advice.
  2. Competitions: Participate in challenges based on the sustainability theme, with special prizes from sponsors.
  3. Judging: A panel of UM professors and tech professionals will evaluate the projects.

Break Activities

  1. Mario Kart & Super Smash Bros tournaments
  2. Yoga/Meditation sessions
